Courses & Classes

Now Enrolling In-Person Workshop
THE HESCH METHOD WHOLE-BODY MANUAL THERAPY COURSE
March 06-08, 2026
Venice Beach, CA

ENDORSEMENT
"Jerry provides a comprehensive initial evaluation of gross joint mechanics using spring tests, followed by simple treatments that can be immediately retested for measurable results. It’s become an excellent foundation that I’ve been able to incorporate with my myofascial and manual osteopathic work.

I am excited that we are bringing him to Venice Beach, CA."

Arden Nutt
Yoga and Movement Educator

COURSE OBJECTIVES
You will:
  • Have repeat hands-on practice and experience Jerry’s skilled hands
  • Become proficient with skilled palpation and load – spring – recoil spring tests throughout the body.
  • Treat the linked somatic structures of Fascia, Muscle, Tendon, Ligament, Joint, and the Nervous System within a whole-body framework.
  • Confidently apply neuroarticular and neuromyofacial corrections.
  • Learn new manual care techniques that are user-friendly for the therapist's body.
  • Become competent in teaching self-treatment and movement therapy to support the brief hands-on work.
  • Participate in two 1-hour post-course Google Meet webinars to review and fully integrate the work

ABOUT JERRY
At age 16, Jerry Hesch underwent Rolfing, which was his first introduction to work with the body. Stretching and chiropractic did not resolve his chronic rib joint pain. So he developed a self-treatment, not knowing that he had developed a novel paradigm using a fulcrum and low load and long duration, joint, and soft tissue mobilization and normalization.
After obtaining a degree in physical therapy, he then expanded this work throughout the whole body. He answered the question: "How do we treat fascia in joints throughout the body?" This approach answers that missing piece in somatic therapies.
Learn more about Jerry on the Hesch Institute website. We also recommend exploring the Hesch Institute YouTube channel.
WHOLE BODY COURSE OUTLINE
This includes all material from the other courses, such as the Whole-Body,
Lumbopelvic/SIJ, and Coccyx courses. The presenter's job is to outline the material to be
covered in an organized manner. The instructor also needs to create a balance between theory
and hands-on practice to enhance learning and prevent overload/fatigue. The material will be
repeated to enhance mastery. The outline, therefore, represents a general roadmap, not an
exact timeframe.

All topics include Theory, Literature Review, Medical Screening, Case
Studies, Anatomy, Neurology, Biomechanics, Common Mobility-Impairment Patterns,
Pain Patterns, Evaluation and Treatment Lab, Self-Treatment, and HEP.

The Hesch Institute provides advanced continuing education for clinicians seeking a deeper understanding of whole-body movement dysfunction and manual therapy. In addition to treating clients plagued by acute and chronic pain, the goal of the Hesch Institute is to share the Hesch Method with orthopedic manual physical therapist and other hands-on licensed clinicians. A Hesch Institute Workshop is a fantastic learning environment for those interested in recognizing sequential patterns of movement dysfunction throughout the body, as opposed to singular isolated dysfunctions. Examples of Hesch Institute physical therapy seminars are Thoracic Spine & Rib Cage Mobilization & Manipulation and The Hesch Institute Whole Body Course. Jerry Hesch, MHS, PT has conducted workshops in facilities all over the country including Pima Medical Institute in Mesa, Carrington College, and Alabama Spine & Rehab. So whether you are a clinician wishing to attend a Hesch Institute seminar or a facility coordinator interested in hosting one, please contact us at [email protected]

        The Hesch Method SI Course
SIJD is fraught with confusion and misunderstanding.  Yet 25-30% of the back pain population is reported to have a component of SIJD.  Evaluation and treatment needs to evolve with the science and research.

The Hesch Method, a unique subset of Orthopedic Manual Therapy, presents a new approach to evaluation and treatment, in which spring tests are enhanced to a kinesthetic skill known as “Springing with Awareness
TM”.  The practitioner can thoroughly assess the Lumbopelvic structure in all planes of the body, thus demystifying complex pathomechanics.

A viscoelastic creep and reflexogenic model of treatment can restore normative function regarding mobility and stability, allowing rapid achievement of treatment objectives.  Clinicians consistently report confidence in the clinical application of this approach.

The Hesch Method
Evidence Based Whole Body Workshops

Traditionally, joint dysfunction, and dense connective tissue restrictions have been evaluated from the perspective of addressing a patients’ primary complaint, a symptom-producing dysfunction. If not symptomatic, major joints are typically not evaluated beyond posture and gross motion. Yet recent works have brought forth the concept of regional-interdependence. For example, the role of thoracic mobilization for the treatment of neck pain and restriction has lent support to that concept. In a much larger context, the entire body is in fact an integrated whole, such that asymptomatic joint dysfunction, can have far-reaching effects proximally and distally, via biomechanical and  reflexogenic influences. This approach to evaluation and treatment uses a whole-body perspective, and screens all major articulations in a variety of contexts, including asymptomatic segments.

The term “patterns of motion dysfunction” becomes relevant. While patients do have unique presentations, there are in fact common patterns of injuries such that a template to screen for several possibilities is applicable
to all regions of the body. This approach is not rigid, but rather gives a road map, with the ability to recognize when the terrain is unique and not predicted.
